December 15, 2020 – the 3rd Donor Coordination Conference on the Development of the Civil Protection System in Georgia was organized by the Association Rural development for Future Georgia (RDFG) in close collaboration with the Emergency Management Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The event was supported by the USAID Zrda Activity in Georgia.
It has been already three years since the international donor organizations, state and not state actors involved in building and strengthening the national emergency management system came together to facilitate discussions around a comprehensive strategic vision for the emergency management system, and to elaborate a joint DRR agenda within national development efforts.
The third donor coordination conference was conducted via ZOOM online platform according to the current COVID 19 restrictions introduced by the national authorities. The event was attended by the representatives of leading donor organizations, the members of the National Public Safety System, representatives of the accredited embassies, and state development agencies.
The event was facilitated by Vano Grigolashvili, RDFG Disaster Risk Reduction Center chairman and the opening remarks were also delivered by the representatives of EMS and the USAID Zrda Activity in Georgia.
USAID Zrda Activity is a five-year program designed to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in target regions. As it is impossible to support the sustainable economic development without creating safe environment, the project aims to strengthen the structures of the Emergency Management Services System and disaster risk reduction activities on the local level. Within the project, DRR activities are being implemented by the Association Rural Development for Future Georgia (RDFG) DRR Center.
