RDFG starts new phase of creating Demo Plots. Into the framework of ongoing EDKK project Demo Plots has already been created in Bolnisi, Koda, Shaumiani, Sagarejo, Dmanisi and Tsintskaro. For now, there are 16 Demo Plots equipped with modern technologies, were beneficiaries planted berries and placed modern beehives. They’ve already received and marketed their first harvest.
To create new Demo Plots through the project, RDFG announced a competition, where interested farmers can send their business plans. Meanwhile, the project team stated informational campaign in Kakheti and Kvemo Kartli regions. They meet local communities with the experts of berry plants and business trainers. Interested people receive information about planting berries and business plan methodologies.
„We’ve reached lots of people through the informational campaign and most of them got interested to write and send business plans. Meetings with the local communities continue. Demo Plots are really great opportunity for farmers to get acquainted with modern agricultural technologies, be involved in agricultural activities and get financial advantage” – says Nino Baraqadze, Project community mobilizer.
The main objective of the project Economic Development through Agricultural Assistance for IDP Farmers in Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions (EDKK) is to contribute to the poverty reduction and the social inclusion of the IDP families in Georgia focusing on creation of a strong and competitive rural production, processing and marketing sector that contributes to the economic development and employment. To reach its goals, Demo plots are created – this is a plot in the possession of beneficiaries, that are equipped by a modern agricultural technologies and enables them to get involved in agricultural process and to harvest.
