In the framework of “Healthy lifestyle popularization at schools” project children planted trees at five school yards of Kvemo kartli and Kakheti. Students from Sagarejo, Dmanisi, Tsintskaro, Shaumiani and Koda schools planted 200 plants of Pinus Brutia after classes. Creating greenspace activities were very successful with the effort of teachers, pupils and RDFG team members.
These activities have been implemented through the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, that aims healthy lifestyle popularization at schools. Project partners are non-governmental organization “Helping Hand” and Association Rural Development for Future Georgia (RDFG). The Schools were selected from RDFGs ongoing project EDKK. Though this project, demonstration plots and Young farmers Centers have been created at those areas.
Besides RDFG team, the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and “Helping Hand” also participated in the planting activities.
One of the main objectives of the project Economic Development through Agricultural Assistance for IDP Farmers in Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions (EDKK) is to encourage young people to get involved in agro-entrepreneurship and community development. To fulfil this aim, Young Farmers Centers (YFCs) were created to teach young people leadership skills, new farming techniques and community engagement in order to cultivate future farmers and active citizens. YFCs bring together local and IDP students.
EDKK project is funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by World Vision Germany.
