Students from Dmanisi, Tsintkaro, Koda, Sagarejo and Shaumiani schools participated in a micro-grant community project competition carried out through the EDKK project. The competition aimed to solve community problems with the help and involvement of young people.
The participants wrote project proposals, that were reviewed by an RDFG jury and finally two winners were selected from each school. One of the selected projects plans to equip the school with sports equipment and organize different competitions to promote a healthy lifestyle. Another one of the schools will receive new books for the library, and another will create a new green space in the school yard.
The winners have already received all the necessary equipment from EDKK staff to implement their projects. In addition, every student participant was awarded with a certificate, and each school principal and YFC advisor-teacher received appreciation certificates.
The implementation of the projects has already started and will be finished by the end of the academic year.
One of the main objectives of the project Economic Development through Agricultural Assistance for IDP Farmers in Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions (EDKK) is to encourage young people to get involved in agro-entrepreneurship and community development. To fulfil this aim, Young Farmers Centers (YFCs) were created to teach young people leadership skills, new farming techniques and community engagement in order to cultivate future farmers and active citizens. YFCs bring together local and IDP students. EDKK project is funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by World Vision Germany.
