RDFG has successfully concluded its second annual Seed Fair through the EDKK project. Through March and April, RDFG staff and experts set up Seed Fairs in Koda, Shaumiani, Tsintskaro, Dmanisi, Bolnisi and Sagarejo, and distributed planting materials and advice to over 500 beneficiaries. RDFG agro-consultants informed the attendees about modern agro technologies, fruit plants and new breeds.
Certified seed supplier companies, like Agronet, Agroinvest, Passiflora, Syngenta, Agrokartli and Davit Kakashvili nursing garden were participated in the events. They introduced modern means of keeping and caring of plants and offered reduced price about seeds and fruit plants to local farmers. IDP farmers who attended the seed fairs were gifted with some seeds and plants by the EDKK staff.
The main objective of the project Economic Development through Agricultural Assistance for IDP Farmers in Kvemo Kartli and Kakheti regions (EDKK) is to contribute to the poverty reduction and the social inclusion of the IDP families in Georgia focusing on creation of a strong and competitive rural production, processing and marketing sector that contributes to the economic development and employment. A two and a half year project is funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by World Vision Germany.
