On September 13th closing event of LIFE Georgia project (Livelihood Initiatives to Foster Employability and Entrepreneurship of IDPs and host populations in Georgia) was held in Senaki.
Representatives of donor and partner organizations of the project, beneficiaries and state entities attended the event. Guests had a tour in Daba Jvari VET college “Lakada”, where beneficiaries of LIFE Georgia took professional courses.
The project Closing Event was hosted by the Senaki Adult Education Centre and Kindergaten located at the IDP settlement. Representatives of partner organizations, EU delegation, MRA and MES spoke about the achievements of LIFE Georgia project. Speeches were also made by social service agency representative, head of Senaki municipality administration and Head of Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti project management unit. Certificate handover ceremony to the graduates of the VET and entrepreneurship training courses was organized. In the end, guests were invited to the sale-exhibition of the products of project beneficiaries.
Association of Rural Development For Future Georgia (RDFG) was involved in implementation of three components within the framework of LIFE Georgia project in Shida Kartli:
- Employment program „Employment Shuttle“ – 27 beneficiaries out of 40 got employed and 13 continued their studies.
- To foster small and medium entrepreneurship – 65 big and 12 medium scale businesses were funded. People with disabilities are involved in 8 businesses. In addition, 51 beneficiaries were awarded with agricultural tool-kits.
- Vocational education and training courses (VET) – 185 beneficiary was trained in cookery, pharmacy and accounting.
LIFE Georgia project, that was carried out in Samegrelo and Shida Kartli regions lasted 21 months and aimed to foster long-term Livelihood Initiatives for IDPs and local community. Project was carried out by consortium of organizations under the leadership of ACF and was financially supported by EU.
