On December 6 2014 Association Rural Development for Future Georgia (RDFG) conducted the fair of handicrafts made by IDP women from Berbuki, Shavshvebi, Skra, Khurvaleti and Karaleti IDP Settlements of Gori Municipality. The production from Georgian textile “Teka”, carpets, hats, warm house shoe, gobelins, etc. were presented.
The fair was organized as the closing event within the Advancing IDP Women and Youth in Shida Kartli Project aiming to empower IDP women and youth and diversify opportunities for employment, self-reliance, livelihoods and skills development through improved access to vocational training, creation of income-generating activities and enhancing entrepreneurial skills. More than 70 women participated in arts and crafts trainings at RDFG Social Centers located in targeted IDP settlements to acquire respective skills. To assist IDPs in marketing their production RDFG will place handicrafts at web based resources. The obtained funds will be utilized to support IDPs produce handicrafts and to contribute to running and maintenance costs of RDFG Social Centers in above mentioned IDP settlements.
Advancing IDP Women and Youth in Shida Kartli Project was implemented by RDFG since July 2014 and was financed by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tbilisi.
