The Young Famers Centers (YFC) is an approach of RDFG, that bring together school children from rural communities to demonstrate the benefits of modern agriculture as a source of livelihood security in their local communities and an alternative to migration to urban areas. YFC teaches advocacy, civic participation, leadership skills and agricultural innovation so youth can revitalize their communities’ civic and economic future. Young Farmers Centers also participate in RDFG demonstration plots and learn entrepreneurial skills.
At this time, RDFG has Young Farmers Centers in 4 schools of Kvemo Kartli and 1 school of Kakheti: in Koda, Shaumiani, Dmanisi, Tsintskaro and Sagarejo. YFC students try be actively involved in solving their community problems and other agricultural activities.
YFCs were established through EDMM project, that aimed to engage youth in civic leadership and livelihood development in rural areas. At this time, YFC’s component is involved in two ongoing projects, in EDKK and ENPARD – Tetrirskaro.
